Many of you know Reed, who became our unofficially adopted son after we moved to Texas. We met him through church as soon as we moved here, and Brent was also his youth group leader. A bond quickly formed between us and his family. He was being raised by his grandparents, but we sort of tried to help out and be the "younger" parents, helping out Max and Jo when we could! That's really our relationship in a nutshell, it is so much more than that. We feel like he is a large part of the reason we moved to Texas in the first place. He needed us and we needed him. We truly love him like a son. He's all grown up now, but he's still our "kid" and we are still very close to him.
He got married this past year to Amber and they are expecting a baby boy. A few days ago we got a call from Reed, letting us know that they were keeping his sweet wife in the hospital overnight due to pre-eclampsia, a pregnancy condition that can be - if serious enough - life threatening to moms and babies. Well, things escalated today and Amber was Care Flighted to a hospital in Shreveport and baby Max is scheduled to be delivered in about 7 hours. Amber is not due for another 4 weeks, but the doctors say that it is time for the baby to be born.
Brent decided that he couldn't stay around here just waiting, so he decided to drive over to Shreveport to be there with them! I will stay here and take care of my mom. We couldn't leave her with Jordan b/c Jordan has bronchitis and is not a good candidate for taking care of a patient with weak lungs!!
Reed and Amber seem to be hanging in there with everything. She is one of the calmest people I know and so good for Reed. But, nonetheless, please keep them in your prayers if you are reading this late, and we will have more news to report tomorrow.
